Why You Need to Get Rid of Rats & Mice Quickly

Rodents like mice and rats always search for food, water, and shelter. From chewing through walls and flattening their bodies through tiny cracks to scurrying through unsealed drainage pipes, rodents will do all they can to get inside to the warmth of your home or business. They breed quickly, so once they are inside, you can quickly end up with a full infestation.

Mice and rats can cause significant damage. They are known for chewing through exposed electrical wires inside attics and crawl spaces, resulting in costly repairs and, even worse, a fire hazard. Rodents not only put you and others at risk from wreaking havoc on your building’s structure but also threaten people due to the dangerous bacteria they carry.

Rodents can be clever, so infestations should be handled by a team of professionals. We at Bug Masters do not recommend using over-the-counter rodent treatments because many contain chemicals that can harm people and pets on your property. They also fail to address the source of the infestation — and infestations are likely to keep recurring unless all entry points are found and sealed.

What do rodents eat?

Rats will eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, grains, rice, oats, cereal, and pet food. Some rats can switch to a high-protein diet that requires them to hunt for insects, meat scraps, and smaller rodents like mice. Mice will eat a wide variety of food available to them, but they typically love meats, grains, oats, cereal, rice, corn, fruits, and seeds.

What attracts rodents?

Rats and mice are attracted to any property that provides them with their basic needs of food, water, and a place to live.

Things they are attracted to include:

  • Leaky pipes, pet bowls, and birdbaths
